Do you think you need acting techniques to start your acting career?

As beginners, you are starting to act and want to do it “right” Therefore, you may think you need to take the best acting technique classes, so you may have asked around which one works best and which one people like most. And you might have tried different techniques in order to become a better actor. After that, you may have started auditioning and realized that you don’t feel fulfilled, but scared and blocked instead. So you may wonder why you are unable to feel open and free after having applied different techniques.

When you watch my training below you'll discover that the reason why you may think that you need a technique to act is because since you went to school, you were taught to do things right and to feel, think and behave a certain way so you could please a higher authority, fit in and get validation. None of this has anything to do with what’s needed in art. In art, you need to bring your own perception and point of view in whatever discipline you’re involved in. And more specifically, acting is the art of being fully alive, present, open and in the moment in your unique way. From that place you can take on a character’s story.

But no wonder that when you start acting, you may look for a technique because everything that you have learned in your life has come from an external authority. But no external authority can teach you how you can be uniquely you because only you can do that. In fact, the more you hang on to a technique, the more you try to be someone else or a better version of yourself and the more you disconnect from your unique and free self.

If you look at kids, you will see that they don’t question which technique they should use to play their characters, they just dive into them because they’re still open. They haven’t been conditioned yet.

In conclusion, if you’re starting to act and you feel that you’re missing that joy and ease in acting, what you need is to come back to who you authentically are. If you could go back to that childlike freedom and authenticity you had when you were a child, you would be able to embody any character and circumstances without any effort. You would just be interested in diving into them.

So the opportunity is not to look for a technique, but actually to look for a way to go back to that pure self that you were when you came to this world. That’s what you have to offer and the place where you can make art.
